The aesthetics of design were moulded into me from a young age. I stem from a vibrant and multicultural household. I can still see my parent’s red velvet four metre long sofa which was the pride of our living room in the late sixties. What a statement then already!
I discovered my passion for beautiful materials and gorgeous furnitures at a young age. I was inspired by watching my mother and my grandmother sew their own clothes and by spending hours in fabric stores in Manhattan. I was six years old when I started sewing all kinds of buttons on to pieces of fabric lying on the sewing table. I was endlessly taking in all the wonderful moods and atmospheres that we had at home. I dreamed of having my own clothing label which I realised in my twenties.
